HEPWORTH BARBARA: (1903-1975) British Sculptor. A.L.S., Barbara, two pages, 4to, Trewyn Studio, St. Ives, Cornwall, 15th April 1966, to Warren Forma ('My dear dear Warren'). Hepworth announces 'Your letter was a terrific help. As you say - love does heal & contain one', remarking that she is slowly emerging from a dark patch, 'The main thing is to get some food down me - & as the work is hard, one needs more than 1 eggnog per day!' Hepworth further states that Forma's photographs were lovely and gave her a full idea of the exhibition and continues to invite her correspondent to visit in July ('You must choose your sculpture') adding 'My London Ex. of new work opens at Gimpels May 24th. I will be up & down May & June for Lord Mayors Banquets & what have you. I must see you both. I have done a lot of new work. My only answer to ''threats'' is to work more!! But I must overcome this semi-starvation…..I will send you photos of new work. Also photos of many projects for monumental sculptures. More & more I want colour - & use colour!' In concluding the sculptor remarks 'I think of you both so much. My silence only means a specially sticky patch which has to be overcome'. A letter of interesting content. VG Warren Forma (1923-2014) American Filmmaker & Author, known for his 'Artists at Work' documentary film series of 1963-67 which included 5 British Sculptors (Work and Talk) (1964) featuring Barbara Hepworth, Henry Moore and others.
