RABBI YECHEZKEL SHRAGA OF STROPKOW – LETTER OF ENCOURAGMENT TO THE WRITER CHAIM BLOCH. 1957.


Letter of encouragement sent by the Rebbe of Stropkow in Yerushalayim to the writer Chaim Bloch, after someone reprinted his books without permission.
The letter includes Torah thoughts quoted in the name of the Rebbe’s ancestors, the Rebbes of Sanz and Sieniawa, and others.

Rabbi Yechezkel Shraga Lipschitz – Halberstam (1908-1995), son of Rabbi Yissachar Dov of Ungvar and grandson of Rabbi Avraham Shalom Halberstam of Stropkow. Studied under Rabbi Avraham Yosef Grunwald and Rabbi Yosef Elimelech Cahana, and also under his uncle Rabbi Menachem Mendel Halberstam of Stropkow. Rabbi of Jablonka and Dayan of Beregsasz. After losing his wife and six children in WWII he remarried and settled in Eretz Yisrael in 1949, living in Be’er Yaakov and Ramla, before settling in Yerushalayim in 1953 and establishing the Stropkow Beis Hamedrash in Meah Shearim. He succeeded his uncle as Stropkower Rebbe in 1954. A prominent and active rabbinical figure, who also served on the Beth Din of the Eda Charedis Hasefardis. Author of many published works including Divrei Yechezkel Shraga.


Chaim Bloch (1881-1973), Born in Galicia but settled in Vienna, served as chaplain in WWI. Writer and translator. Conducted correspondence with numerous rabbis and writers.
