Juan Gris

Violin and guitar, 1977
Litograph, 75.5 x 52.5 cm
Violon Et Guitare is an original lithograph d'apres printed by Henri Deschamps and published by Mourlot, Paris in 1977.
Edition of 210. The artwork is a reproduction of the namesake painting realized by Juan Gris in 1913.

Reference: Catalogue Maitres graveurs contemporains by Berggruen & Cie, Paris 1981, n. VIII/2.
Violon Et Guitare is a perfect example of Cubist ideals that the artist Juan Gris adopted in 1912 - 1913. The violin and the guitar are perhaps the most poetically evocative still-life motifs in the Cubist inventory of everyday objects. Also, one of Juan Gris’s favorite motifs, the guitar, is presented as absolute protagonist of the scene.
Henri Deschamps was a French printmaker, well-known for his collaborative work with important artists such as Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, and René Magritte. He was able to take their paintings and adjust them into lithographs, making original prints at the Atelier Mourlot, a famous print shop in Paris.
Very good conditions. Included wooden frame.
