Letter dated 1881 to Dr Eliezer Loewe, secretary of Sir Moses Montefiore, thanking for a donation received.
Signatories include: R. Ahron Brokenstein, R. Yo’el Moshe Salamon and R. Avraham ben Uri Shabsai [Nissenbaum], with an attractive stamp of the Synagogue.
A few lines added by Rabbi Shmuel Salant: ‘I add my greetings and blessings to yedid Hashem v’amo, my learned friend and scholar in sciences morenu harav Eliezer Halevy ... they sent me someone who can write English and he prepared the receipts correctly ...’ followed by his signature.

Rabbi Shmuel Salant (1806-1909), studied Torah in Salant and Volozhin, son-in-law of Rabbi Yosef Zundel Salant, settled in Yerushalayim in 1841, and became Av Beth Din of the Ashkenazi community.

Rabbi Yoel Moshe Salomon (1838-1913), emissary of the Yerushalayim community, communal activist, printer, and co-editor of Halevanon.

Rabbi Avraham Nissenbaum, son of Rabbi Uri Shabsai – a rabbi in Yerushalayim and son-in-law of Rabbi Yosef Zundel Salant.
