Letter from the Chabad Kollel in the Holy Land, dated 1850, thanking Sir Moses Montefiore for sending the sum of £27 as a result of the efforts of Chief Rabbi Nathan Adler of England, in obtaining the donation of the wealthy Leon[?] Salamon, as well as a donation from ‘Rabbi Tuvia, son of the gaon of London’ [i.e Rabbi David Tevele son of Chief Rabbi Shlomo Hirshel].

Rabbi Shimon Menashe Chaikin (c. 1802-1893), born in Shklov, settled in Tzefas c. 1820, and moved to Chevron on the instructions of Rabbi Dov Ber of Lubavitch to his followers. He became Rabbi of the Chabad community and subsequently also Av Beth Din of the town.

Rabbi Nathan Adler (1803-1890), son of Rabbi Mordechai Adler of Hanover and relative of the famous Rabbi Nathan Adler of Frankfurt. Rabbi of Hanover and London (1845) where he served as Chief Rabbi of England. Author of Nesina Leger.

Sir Moses Montefiore, great British philanthropist who devoted his life to improving the conditions of Jews around the world through his generosity and political intervention.
