R' Yitzchak Dov Bamberger (1807-1878), was one of the most prominent Rabbonim, as well as a most influential Orthodox spokesman, of nineteenth century Germany. In his youth, he studied at the great Yeshiva of Furth under R. Binyamin Wolf Hamburger. As Rav of Wurzburg, in addition to leading a Yeshiva and fulfilling his communal duties, he published many important works, amongst them Meleches Shamayim, Amira L’Bais Yaakov, Moreh L’Zovchim, Nachlei Devash, Yitzchak Yeranen and others.
