Decorated plaque for mounting photographs, presented as a wedding gift, attributed to Moshe Ben Yitzchak Mizrahi (Shah). [Jerusalm, 1920s-30s].
Oil paint and silver foil on glass.
A pair of lions supporting a round wreath of flowers appear on top. Within the wreath appears a Star of David with the word "Zion". Below, among other floral decorations, are five white rectangles. According to Haviva Peled, in the chapter dedicated to Moshe Mizrahi in an article "Seven Artists in Eretz Israel" (Hebrew), plaques such as this one, were presented as wedding gifts and were meant for mounting photographs of the couple.
46X35 cm. Good condition. Some damages to paint. Adhesive tape on the reverse of silver foil. Framed. Unexamined out of frame.
