Letter of Wedding Congratulations from Rebbe Rayatz of Lubavitch - Perchtoldsdorf, 1937
Letter of wedding congratulations, signed by Rebbe Yosef Yitzchak Shneersohn of Lubavitch. Perchtoldsdorf (Austria), 1937. In the letter, the Rebbe addresses R. Yosef Shmotkin: "In response to his letter informing of the wedding of his daughter Chaya Sara..., I hereby extend my Mazal Tov wishes, may the wedding take place at a good and auspicious time, and may they build a Jewish home on foundations of Torah and Mitzvot…". The letter is typewritten, with the addition of one handwritten (Hebrew) word in the Rebbe's handwriting, before his signature: "[Who seeks his wellbeing and blesses him] in material and spiritual matters, Yosef Yitzchak". R. Yosef Shmotkin (1892-1979) was the founder of the Chabad community in Rishon LeTzion in the 1920s and promoter of Orthodox education in the city. He helped establish there the boys' school and Chabad synagogue, and in 1952, the Chabad yeshiva. [1] leaf, official stationery. 24.5 cm. Good condition. Stains. Folding marks.
