SAINT-JUST LOUIS ANTOINE DE: (1767-1794) Also known as the `Angel of Death´ during the Reign of Terror. French military and political major Leader during the French Revolution. The youngest of the deputies elected to the National Convention in 1792. He leaded the movement to execute King Louis XVI and later drafted the radical French Constitution in 1793. A close friend of Robespierre. Saint-Just was executed at the very early age of 26, together with Robespierre, and their death at the guillotine is widely considered as the end of the Reign of Terror. An excellent and attractive D.S., Saint-Just, one page, folio, Paris, 4th September 1792, in French. The partially printed document bears a printed heading laureate vignette of the "National Convention - French Republic - 1792", being a record minute of the National Convention stating in part `Mr. Guiraule, member of the Commune, informs the assembly that he has in extremis saved the life of Abbot Siccard, pupil of Abbot de l´Epée, defending him from the people….The National Assembly congratulates Mr. Guiraule for his loyalty and decreed the honorable mention…´ With two additional signatures at the base. The document bears to the left bottom corner a paper seal of the National Convention affixed. Overall light foxing stains and very small age wear. G £1000-1500
