ADER CLEMENT: (1841-1925) French inventor and engineer who is primarily remembered for his pioneering work in aviation, although was also responsible for improving the telephone invented by Alexander Graham Bell and establishing the telephone network in Paris in 1880. Ader was also one of the pioneers in the sport of cycling in France. Book signed and inscribed, being a softcover edition of L´Aviation militaire, third edition published by Berger-Levrault, Paris, 1911. L´Aviation militaire was a hugely popular work and went through ten editions in the five years between its publication in 1909 and the beginning of World War I.
