CASTLEREAGH VISCOUNT: (1769-1822) Anglo-Irish politician and statesman, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs 1812-22 and a central figure in the management of the coalition which defeated Napoleon Bonaparte. Conclusion of a L.S., Castlereagh, one page, folio, n.p. (Downing Street, London), n.d. (15th June 1808), to an unidentified correspondent. The final part of the letter comprises eight lines of text stating, in part, 'Private Property beyond the clear spirit of the Capitulation, and the Ordinary Rules of Practice admitted in similar cases'.
