GROENER WILHELM: (1867-1939) German Generalleutnant of World War I who served as Chief of the General Staff in 1919 and later held various political offices. A.L.S., Groener, one page, 4to, Berlin, 3 rd January 1928, to Dr. Engel, in German. Groener states that it was extraordinarily kind of his correspondent to have thought again about his enquiry after so long and continues to remark ‘It appears to me that the decision has been used by the majority, without their understanding one end from the other. But I still adhere to Goethe. Perhaps the incident will provide us with yet more sources’. One small, extremely minor tear to the right edge and with a couple of very minimal traces of former mounting to the verso, otherwise VG
