CARRERO BLANCO LUIS: (1904-1973) Spanish Navy Officer and Politician. Carrero Blanco was the right-hand man of dictator Francisco Franco, who appointed him as his successor in the role of Head of Government, taking office in June 1973. Six months after becoming Prime Minister, Carrero Blanco was assassinated in a car bombing by the Basque terrorist group ETA when he was returning from mass.
