VERDI GIUSEPPE: (1813-1901) Italian Composer. A good A.L.S., G. Verdi, one page, 8vo, Genova, 18th March 1891, to Giulio Ricordi, in Italian. Verdi asks a favour to his friend Giulio Ricordi, stating `Una parola sola!´ (“Only one word!”), and referring to Dumolard who has sent a parcel to Peppina without a previous announcement, states `La mandato alla Peppina I due volume di Casati´ (“Has sent to Peppina the two volumes of Casati”) Verdi concludes asking his correspondent to send someone to pay the cost of 25 Lires. With blank integral leaf. Accompanied by the original envelope, addressed in Verdi´s hand, postmarked and stamped. Very small tear to the fold edge. VG
Giulio Ricordi (1840-1912) Italian Editor and Musician. Grandson of Giovanni Ricordi, the founder of the Music publishing company of the same name “Casa Ricordi” which Giulio leaded till his death.
Verdi may refer to the volumes of Gabrio Casati (1798-1873) Italian Politician, Minister of education and President of the Senate of Italy.
