A BRONZE ASTROLOGICAL GLOBE WITH ARABIC SCRIPT, 19THCEN.
An engraved bronze globe with astrological symbols. This globe rests on an axle within a graduated ring, allowing full rotation of the entire sphere. The sphere is ornately engraved with various celestial bodies and figures and two angled rotational bands wrapped around the globe. Numerical symbols are illustrated on each band and Arabic script is seen throughout the globe. These globes would be created with representations of the stars and constellations and their relative positions in the sky to assist calculation by the location relative to the observer.
Dimensions: H: 7 1/2 in., (19.1 cm.)
Condition: Very good overall with a slight squeak.
