The Neologue controversy in Hungary - Teshuvah Me'ahavah pamphlet - The R. Akiva Yosef Schlesinger controversy and his book Lev Ha'Ivri - a very rare and unique edition, Ungvar, 1865.
A most rare polemical pamphlet, by Rabbi Nathan Feitel Reinitz, Av Beit Din of the Kehillah of Balkan, a response to the charges against the book Lev Ha'Ivri, which were published in the book Yosher Divrei Emet. To set the record straight and to uphold the faith.
Background:
In 1865, Rabbi Akiva Yosef Schlesinger published his book Lev HaIvri, in which he set the religious record straight, and denounced the ways of the Neologues, and their followers in Pressburg, and also wrote with vehemence against those who supported methods like Torah and Derech Eretz in Germany.
In response to his charges against the Neologues in Pressburg, a book 'Yosher Divrei Emet' was printed in which the Neologues presented a response to the arguments of R. Akiva Yosef. For this purpose the rare pamphlet before us was printed in response to the arguments made in Yosher Divrei Emet, and to respond properly against the Neologues.
The bookplate of ownership 'Yaakov Lesh?' may be that of one of the Lichtenstein clan of the family of Rabbi Hillel of Kalmia, but we have been unable to identify which Yaakov signed the copy before us.
Bound together with Sefer Yafaich La'ketz on the Torah, by the Gaon Israel David Margulies Yafe Shlezinger, first edition, Pressburg, 1862.
A very good copy. Light age-toning.
Being a tractate of but ten pages, the majority of copies have been lost, and it is very rare indeed to obtain a copy of this tractate.

קונטרס פולמוס נדיר ביותר, מאת רבי נתן פייטל רייניטץ אב"ד דק"ק באלקאן, תשובה על הטענות כנגד ספר לב העברי שנדפסו בספר יושר דברי אמת. להשיב דברים נכוחה להעמדת הדת על תילה.
רקע:
בשנת תרכ"ה הדפיס רבי עקיבא יוסף שלזינגר את ספרו 'לב העברי' בו העמיד דברי הדת על תילם, והוקיע את דרכם של הנאולוגים, ואנשיהם בפרשבורג, וכן כתב בחריפות כנגד התומכים בשיטות כמו תורה ודרך ארץ בגרמניה.
במענה לטענותיו כנגד הנאולוגים בפרשבורג, נדפס ספר 'יושר דברי אמת' בו הציגו הנאולגים מענה לטענות רבי עקיבא יוסף. לשם כך נדפס הקונטרס הנדיר שלפנינו במענה לטענות שנשמעו בספר יושר דברי אמת, ולהשיב כהוגן כנגד הנאולוגים.
בשער הספר חתימת בעלים 'יעקב לש?' יתכן שמדובר באחד מגאוני משפחת ליכטנשטיין ממשפחת רבי הלל מקאלמיא, לא עלה בידינו לזהות מי הוא ר' יעקב החתום על העותק שלפנינו.
