A nice letter from Rabbi Shmuel Ehrenfeld of Mattersdorf - New York 1941
Official paper with the rabbi's details in Hebrew and English with his address in New York.
The recommendation was given to his beloved student R. Aharon Yuda Wallner from the descendants of Rabbi Aharon Singer Av Beit Din of Mattersdorf.
The Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Ehrenfeld studied with his father and was ordained by the Gaon Rabbi Meir Arik and the Gaon Rabbi Yosef Engil. When his father Rabbi Simcha Bunim died in 1926, Rabbi Shmuel Ehrenfeld was appointed Rabbi of the city, thus becoming the seventh rabbi in his family on the throne of this rabbinate.
Appointed as the president of the seven communities, and is considered one of the most important Torah scholars in Austria. With the invasion of the Nazis in 1938, he came to the USA with his family and founded the yeshiva "Mattersdorf". He republished the books of his great ancestors. Some of his Hiddushim were printed under the name "Shem Me'Shmuel".
On his initiative, the Matersdorf neighborhood in Jerusalem was built. He died on the 2nd of Shavuot 1980 and was buried on Mount Ha'Menuhot.

מכתב נאה מאת הגאון רבי שמואל עהרענפעלד ממטרסדורף - ניו יורק, תש"א | 1941
נייר רשמי עם פרטי הרב בעברית ואנגלית עם כתובתו בניו יורק.
ההמלצה הוענקה לתלמידו חביבו ר' אהרן יודא וולנר מצאצאי הג"ר אהרן זינגר אב"ד ממטרסדורף.
הגאון רבי שמואל עהרענפעלד, למד אצל אביו ולמד והוסמך מהגאון רבי מאיר אריק והגאון רבי יוסף ענגיל. כשאביו הג"ר שמחה בונים נפטר בז' באב תרפ"ו [1926] מונה הג"ר שמואל עהרענפעלד לרב העיר, בכך היה הרב השביעי במשפחתו על כס רבנות זו.
מונה כנשיא שבע הקהילות, ונחשב מחשובי גדולי התורה באוסטריה. עם פלישת הנאצים בשנת תרצ"ח, הגיע לארה"ב עם משפחתו והקים בה את הישיבה "מטרסדורף". ההדיר לדפוס את ספרי אבותיו הגדולים. מחידושיו נדפסו בשם "שם משמואל".
ביוזמתו נבנתה שכונת מטרסדורף בירושלים. נפטר ב' דשבועות תש"מ [1980] ונקבר בהר המנוחות.
