Chafetz Chaim. First Edition. Vilna, 1873
Chafetz Chaim - halachahs of lashon hara and rechilut by the rabbi of the entire Jewish people, Rabbi Yisrael Meir HaKohen, known through the generations by the name of the book, as Ba'al HaChafetz Chaim. Dworzec Press. 1873. First edition.
First edition of the renowned book that was a turning point for generations and reprinted in innumerable editions. This was the first time a book was printed that was entirely dedicated to the issue of proper speech. In this edition, the author, in his humility, published the book anonymously, and his name is not even mentioned in the approbations, however, in the margins of the title page, his name is printed in Cyrillic letters: I. M. Kagan.
The author, Rabbi Yisrael Meir HaKohen, is known as the 'Ba'al HaChafetz Chaim' after this book, despite his book series Mishnah Berurah becoming the ultimative and most common halachic work that brought him world-wide fame.
