Nechmad V'Naim, Chochmat HaTechuna, Kiddush HaChodesh and measurements of the stars, by Rabbi David Ganz. Jessnitz, 1743, astronomic diagrams.
Specifications: 82 leaves, 20 pages, 20 cm. Complete copy, includes the leaves in Latin which are not found in many copies.
Unique Features: Only edition. With astronomical diagrams.
Ownership signatures of Meir [Zvi?] Horowitz are on the rear side of the title page, on pages 4 and 6, and a rabbinical ownership stamp is on page 7.
Background: The author Rabbi David Ganz [1541-1613] was a disciple of Rabbi Moshe Isserles - the Rema, and the Maharal of Prague, in contact with the greatest astronomers of his time, Kepler and Tycho Brahe. The book before us contains the first description of Copernicus's approach in Hebrew. Astronomical diagrams throughout the book.
Condition: Fine. Aging stains. Very few worming holes. New binding.
