SPLENDID MARBLE PENDULUM LOUIS XVI WITH THE FIGURE OF MARS.

Date: Ca. 1780/90.
Technique: White and black marble. Fire gilded bronze, partly glossy-polished, partly matte.
Description: Two large obelisks on pedestals on a two-tiered, rectangular base. These are decorated
with war trophies and lion mascarons. The clockwork is mounted in a tambourine-shaped
capsule between the obelisks. This is crowned by the triumphant figure of Mars in ancient
armour and with drawn sword. Enamelled dial with Roman hours and Arabic minutes and
central date display. 14-day pendulum movement with thread suspension and sun pendulum,
half-hour chime on bell.
Measurement: 64x43,5x18cm.
