A set of documents from the Polish Army officer Andrzej Kulwiecie from the period 1918-1939. The documents include: 1. He studied at the 4th Classical Junior High School in Warsaw, he was a pupil of Aleksander Janowski, the founder of the Polish Touring Society. He studied history and Polish philology at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. After graduating, he went to Oxford, where he studied history. In 1913 he returned to Poland and as a volunteer in Józef Piłsudski's First Cadre Company of Legions he participated in the frontline battles. During World War I, he graduated from the Officers' School, in 1918 he became an adjutant to general Władysław Sikorski. The captain of the Polish Army, as a professional officer, connected his life with Bydgoszcz (from 1923), where he took the position of a lecturer at the Officers' School for NCOs (from 1928 to 1938, the Officer Cadet School for NCOs). Until 1939, he taught humanities in Bydgoszcz male gymnasiums. In the years 1933–1938 he was one of the editors of "Przegląd Bydgoski", he collaborated with "Dziennik Bydgoski" and with military magazines: "Bellona", "Polish Soldier" and "Polska Zbrojna". He dealt with historical topics, to which he devoted sketches, essays and popular science essays. He was a respected cultural and educational activist, speaker and lecturer at the Cadet School. Andrzej Kulwieć spent the years of World War II in Bydgoszcz, where he worked as a worker in a furniture factory. At that time, he was active in the underground resistance movement. After the liberation of Bydgoszcz, he immediately became involved in the action of securing works of art that survived the war, library collections and documentation of Nazi crimes in Bydgoszcz. He died on February 8, 1946. In the Museum of the Land Forces, at 2 Czerkaska Street, a memorial plaque was placed (in 1996). Captain Kulwieć's name also appears on the commemorative plaque devoted to the Cadet School (1998). His grave is under the care of the Land Forces Museum.
