המחבר רבי חיים אברהם אישטרושה - [תק"ך-תקס"ד], היה רב בשירון (סרס) ובעוד כמה קהילות ביוון. נולד בשנת התק"ך (1760) בשאלוניקי לרבי דוד איסטרושה, בן בנו של הרב דניאל בן משה אישטרושה, ראש ישיבת פורטוגל - יחיא בסלוניקי ומחבר ספר "מגן גיבורים". היה רב בעיר קומוטיני, בצפון-מזרח יוון, וכן כיהן כרב גם בערים לאריסה וקסטוריה. הרב חיים פאלאג'י מביא אותו בספריו, ומכנה אותו ”עמיתנו בתורה”. בשנת תקס"ד מונה לרבה של הקהילה היהודית בשירון, שם התפרסם ובתקופה זו הדפיס את ספריו.
