The expulsion of the Jews of Spain in 1942 ended 1500 years of their stay in Spain.
This branch of Judaism knew various conquerors and rules during its sojourn there. Starting with Roman rule, the Visigothic and Muslim conquest, and reoccupied by the Christians.
All these years, the Sephardic Jews succeeded in building public life. The knowledge of the Hebrew language, the interpretation of the Bible, poets and poets, and great thinkers such as Ibn Gvirol, Yehudah Halevi, Ibn Ezra and many others expressed their longing for their people. Rabbi Yitzchak Alfasi and Rabbi Yosef ibn Migash.
The inquisition that began in Castile towards the end of the 15th century encompassed Spain as a whole, and sought to uproot the aspiration to return to Judaism, where the idea of expulsion arose. On 31 March 1492, Fernando and Isabel signed a deportation order and 200,000 Jews were deported.
