Salmon & Jefferys - Pair of Maps of North & South America
This detailed engraving comes from Thomas Salmon's A New Geographical and Historical Grammar: Wherein the Geographical Part is Truly Modern; and the Present State of the Several Kingdoms of the World Is So Interspersed as to Render the Study of Geography Both Entertaining and Instructive. The work was published in London in 1764 by W. Johnston, H. Woodfall, J. Hinton, et al. The maps were by Thomas Jefferys.
Thomas Salmon (1679-1767) was mostly self-educated English historian who also lived in both the East and West Indies. He sailed with Lord Anson on his 1740-1744 circumnavigation. He published numerous works in world gazetteers, geographical grammars and histories, and travel narratives.

The work is in very good to excellent condition overall. There can be some negligible offset due to the fold out nature of the plate. There may be minor imperfections to be expected with age. Please review the image carefully for condition and contact us with any questions.
