Richard Meinertzhagen (1878–1967) was a British intelligence officer, writer, birdwatcher, and friend of Zionism. He served in Israel as an intelligence officer for General Allenby and operated the Jewish spy network Nili. In his diaries he proposed the borders of Israel as he invisioned them, including the Golan Heights, part of Transjordan, and most of Sinai.
