Esther Lurie - Rare Catalog - Dedicated by the Artist
Published by Sifryat Poalim, 1945.
A catalog of paintings made in secret in the winter of 1944 when Lurie was in a labor camp in the Polish-German town of Lewicz. In the introduction, she writes: "I had to be careful of the eyes of Nazies, lest they catch me in my craft." Upon liberation, she arrived at a camp in Italy, where she met the artist Menachem Shemi (who was an Israeli soldier in the British army), and he decided to organize an exhibition of these paintings and publish the catalog. Includes a dedication by the artist.
Hebrew, 18X11 cm. fair condition: loosening between cover and pages, some pages with tears, cover with yellowing and general wear. Softcover.
