Full set of the Sfas Emes by the Rabbi of Gur. First edition with golden cover pages.

Full set of the Sefer Sfas Emes by Rabbi Yehuda Aryeh Leib of Gur. This is the first edition which was published in Pietrkov-Cracow during the years 1905-1908.

Rabbi Yehuda Aryeh Leib of Gur is considered to be one of the greatest Chassidish Tzadikim and his foundational Sefer is highly respected in every corner of the Chassidish world.

He lost his father at a young age and was raised by his grandfather, the Chiddushei Harim. After his grandfather's death, he refused to be appointed as the leader of the Chassidim. He studied under his Rabbi, Rabbi Chanoch Henich of Aleksander, and eventually took over the leadership of the Chassidim of Gur. His thoughts on the weekly Parsha were written while still in his Tefilin, which were collected after his death to form a deep and foundational work.

This set includes the author's signature, Eliezer Surkis.

The set is in magnificent condition with original covers and new leather spines. It includes four gilt title pages, and the set is complete and perfect.
