Post Medieval Silver Ring with 'In this Sign is Health' and Lion
Circa 16th-17th century A.D.. With hatched bands dividing the D-section hoop into quarters, ellipsoid cup-shaped bezel with impressed design of a lion gardant beside a rosette with legend above 'in hoc salus' (in this [sign is] health). Cf. Chadour, A.B., Rings. The Alice and Louis Koch Collection, volume I, Leeds, 1994, item 643. 10.31 grams, 28. 09 mm overall, 18.70 mm internal diameter (approximate size British R, USA 8 1/2, Europe 18 3/4, Japan 18) (1 in.).
