Unique, Unpublished Manuscript! Chiddushim of Rabbi Nissim Elyakim of Tveriah
Manuscript, Chiddushim on Torah and Shas by the Gaon Nissim Elyakim of Tveria. 19th century. Unique, never printed manuscript.

“This is the Sefer which I raised and nurtured with my handiwork… on Shas… called ‘Pri Na’eh”.

Sefer “Pri Na’eh”, an unpublished manuscript and other writings, by Rabbi Nissim Elyakim Halevi, one of the sages of Tveriah, with additions by his son, Rabbi Moshe Meir . With many signatures and stamps of Rabbi “Moshe Meir Chai Elyakim OBM”. In several places a title “Cheder Na’eh” is listed.

Written in a handsoצ Soltreo script, the manuscript includes Chiddushim on the Torah and on a few verses from Nevi’im and Kesuvim, Chiddushim on several tractates and the Poskim, Chiddushim “from Rabbi Yosef Chen OBM”, index of questions, book of lots, and more. At the end of the Chiddushim on tractate Erchin, the author’s son wrote: “And I am his servant who grovels at his feet… and he if the joy-bringer of G-D” and several notations in Arabic.

The Gaon Rabbi Nissim Elyakim (ca. 1851-1881) – a sharp Torah scholar from the sages of Tveriah who taught Torah publically. Author of “D’var Na’eh” (Jerusalem 1906) and “Cheder Na’eh” (Jerusalem, 1911). Passed away at the young age of 30. His Seforim use the acronym of his name – Na’EH.

The Gaon Rabbi Moshe Meir Chai Elyakim (1872-1948) – Rabbi Nissim Elyakim’s only son. Was orphaned as a young boy; studied in the Yeshivos of the sages of Tveriah. In 1911 he was sent to North Africa as a charity collector for the city’s Kolelim. In 1929 he was appointed as a member of the Beis Din in Mogador. When he returned to Tveriah, he was appointed, together with Rabbi Yaakov Chai Zarihan as a Dayan in the Beis Din of Rabbi Eliyahu Yaluz. In 1923 he was sent again as a charity collector, this time to Algiers, and in 1924 he was appointed Av Beis Din in Casablanca. Published his father’s Seforim where he also added of his own Chiddushim. Many of his Chiddushim remained as unpublished manuscripts.

Approx. [140] pp. 15cm. Damaged, half-leather binding, partially missing. Damage on the spine and some pages are detached. Moth holes and stains. Tears and damage to some pages. Fair condition.
