Maran the Rishon Letzion Rabbi Ovadya Yosef
Postcard in the unique handwriting of Maran the Rishon LeTzion, Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, restorer of the glory of Sephardic Jewry, from his younger years in Petach Tikva. 1957.

The letter was sent to the great Gaon, member of the Chief Rabbinate, Rabbi Catriel Fischel Techoresh, and in it he requests that Rabbi Techoresh publish an article in the Hatzofeh newspaper, extolling Rav Ovadia’s new Sefer – Responsa Yabi’a Omer vol. II. From the letter is clear how important it was for Maran Rav Ovadia Yosef that this will be noticed by the readership of the Hatzofeh – members of the Mizrachi movement, who were then in full control of the apparatus of the Rabbinate and the religious parties.

Further on, Rav Ovadia Yosef informs Rav Techoresh that he is planning to begin printing vol. III of Yabi’a Omer, but he does not have the funds for it.

Rav Yosef signs with his distinct signature.

[1] Israel Post postcard, entirely in his handwriting. Name and address of sender and recipient also in Rav Yosef’s handwriting. Filing holes. Light stains. Tear from a paper pasting with no damage to text. Good-very good condition.
