Mateh Yosef First Edition, Constantinople 1717. Exemplar of the Gaon Rabbi Eliezer Silber
Responsa Mateh Yosef Vol. I. First edition. Constantinople, 1717. Exemplar stamped with the seal of the famous Gaon Rabbi Eliezer Silber, Gaavad of Cincinnati and from the leading American Rabbis.

The stamps, which appear in several places, are from the time period of Rabbi Silber’s tenure in Springfield, Massachusetts. Between 1925-1931.

Sefer Shem Hagedolim brings details about the author, the Gaon and Mekubal Rabbi Yosef Halevi Nazir, son of the holy Rabbi, Nazir of G-D Rabbi Chaim Moshe Halevi. Lived in Yerushalayim and was a colleague of the ‘Pri Chadash’ and later settled in Chevron, later was Av Beis Din in Egypt. Authored Responsa Mateh Yosef, 2vol.
Additional ownership notes.

The great and famous Gaon Rabbi Eliezer Silber (1882-1968), head of Aguddas Harabonnim of the US and Canada. Was known for his immense public work, both in the Va’ad Hatzalah during the war and in Agudas Yisroel.
