Manuscript. Seder Mishmeret HaChodesh and Selichot for Erev Rosh Chodesh, with prayers for the days of Shovavim from Rabbi Moshe Zachut, and prayers for drought. Casale (Italy), 18th century. With many glosses in Pshat and Drush.


On the title page: “Includes the order for the watch for the new month and Selichot for Rosh Codesh eve as is the custom in the community of Casale to say after Mincha and the Tikkun for Shovavim, all corrected and set up in proper order with no coincidence as per the regulations of the Achronim and the study of the meticulous.”

With prayers and Tikkunim authored by the Shlah, the Chida, Rabbi Eliyahu Halevi, and more, and with commentary to the prayers based on Pshat and Kaballah written as footnotes in Italian script.

The text of the title page is written on a printed frame which was cut from another Sefer. A second printed frame was pasted before the start of the prayers for Shovavim, but was left empty.

Signatures and notations on the flyleaf and an owner’s signature on the title page.

On page 40b is written: “a fine offering… talk of sages… my esteemed father, the noble Rabbi Yitzchak Katzigin and the name of the second… Rabbi Yitzchak Cohen tnd after them… Mr Shmuel Nontalcino, and I followed them though ‘Simcha’ is not a man of worth”.

Rabbi Simcha son of Rabbi Yitzchak Katzigin – succeeded his father as scribe of the community starting in 1629, and editor of the manuscript “Mincha Belula” which contains the Selichot said in the Casale community at Mincha time on Erev Rosh Chodesh.
