Commentary on the Rambam by Rabbi David Arama. Moshe Dias Press, Amsterdam, [1706]. Second edition. Rare. Pedigreed copy. 


[2], 85 leaves. 20 cm. With approbations by the rabbis of Amsterdam. With signatures of Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Papa, Rabbi Chaim Damth Bechor ben Chaviv and Rabbi Aharon Krispin. 

Rabbi David ben Rabbi Avraham Arama - one of the sages of Salonika and Turkey, a descendant of a family that was exiled from Spain. Author of a commentary on the Rambam's Mishneh Torah (Salonika, ca. 1570) and Shut on difficult Sugyot (Kushta, 1580). In his introduction to the commentary on the Rambam, the author writes that he wrote his innovations in 1545, when he was twenty. 

Rabbi Aharon Krispin - one of the sages and rabbis of Izmir. Rabbi Aharon helped his father, the Gaon Rabbi Yehoshua Avraham Krispin, author of Sefer Avraham Bamachazeh, to take care of the needs of the Jewish community of the town. His book, Beit Aharon (Izmir, 1863), was published with the approbation of Rabbi Chaim Palachi. He passed away young in 1854.
