Polemic! Migdol David on Megillat Ruth. Amsterdam, 1680. Single Edition. Pedigreed Copy

Sefer Migdol David on Megillat Ruth - Amsterdam, 1680 - single edition - a book whose author was suspected of plagiarism and provoked a heated controversy - copy that was given as a gift by the Tzaddik Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Glick Av Beis Din of Santpeter, author of Chinuch Beit Yitzchak to his in-law the Tzaddik Gaon Rabbi Yeshaya Hacohen Rubin Av Beis Din of Mihalipolva, author of Ateret Yeshaya - signature of  Rabbi Note Segal of Boskovich (of the family of the Machatzit Hashekel?)

On the front guard leaf on the first page, signature: "הק' נטע סגל מבאסקוויץ" [the father of the Machatzit Hashekel was called Note; however, we did not find that he lived in Boskovich. Possibly, this is the signature of one of his descendants who was named after him].

On the front guard leaf on the second page, a signed dedication: "דורון דרשה לכבוד הרב המאה"ג החריף כבוד ונשגב שמו מו"ה ישעי' נ"י אב"ד ק"ק בעללענעש, ממני מחותנו איציק גליק אבדק"ק פעלעטהאז".

Ownership notation on the title page: "מהרב ר' ישעי' רובין אב"ד במיהאייפאלווא".

Please refer to Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of Rabbi Yitzchak Glick and Rabbi Yeshaya Hacohen Rubin

This book is a Kabbalistic commentary on Megillat Ruth. It was edited by the Kabbalist Rabbi David Lida Av beis Din of Amsterdam and Worms. The book provoked heated controversy, the claim being that he hid the identity of its true author, Rabbi Chaim Hacohen of Aram Tzova, author of Tur Bareket, a disciple of Rabbi Chaim Vital [Rabbi Chaim Hacohen is implied only in the foreword of this book. In following generations, the Yavetz and the Chida also criticized this].
