The handwritten signature of the Sefas Emes appears, apparently in Russian, on an official marriage certificate of the Polish authorities as the Rav Mesader Kiddushin.

This is a rare item with the handwritten signature of one of the Tzaddikim of Poland.

The holy Rav Rabbi Yehuda Aryeh Leib of Ger [1847-1905] one of the greatest Tzaddikim of Poland of all time. His holy Sefer the Sefas Emes, one of the basic and most impoartnt Sefer in the Hassidic world. His father the Holy Rabbi Avraham Mordechai the son of the Holy Rabbi the Chidushei HaRim passed away when he was a child and he was raised by his grandfather. When his grandfather the Chidushei HaRim passed away, the community expected him to be his successor, yet he refused to be appointed Rebbe and Admor and followed the Holy Rabbi Chanoch Henich of Alexander. He became the leader of the community of the Gur Hassidim in 1870. He himself used to write down his Toros on Parashiyos HaShavu'ah and the holidays on Sunday morning, while wearing his Rabbeinu Tam Tefililn. They were compiled after his passing in the deep and basic Sefer, one of the most important Seforim in the Hassidic world: Sefas Emes.
