Will the holy Rav of Belz leave the Holy land?! Letter by Rabbi Yosef Ashkenazi of Satmar
'We are very worried about our brothers Beni Yisroel in the Holy Land may Hashem Yisborach pity them and us that we merit complete redemption soon' Letter by the loyal Chassid Gabai Rabbi Yosel Ashkenazi, the Meshamesh of the holy Rav the Mahari of Satmar about the 1948 war, fear of what is coming and the rumors that the holy Rav Rabbi Aharon of Belz will leaves the country, fearing the war and bombings. USA, 1948.
An airmail letter by the renowned Chassid Rav Rabbi Yosef Ashkenazi the confidante of the holy Rav of Satmar, to his good friend Rabbi Zvi Pinchas Hacohen Moskowitz of Jerusalem, the confidante of the Tzaddikim of the generation and one of the Parnasim of the Satmar community in the Holy City, which was written in winter 1948, several months before the establishment of the state of Israel and with the increasing of the fear of a war with the Arabs.
The great fear, combined with the terrible bombings and the loss of many souls from our brothers Bnei Yisroel, caused rumors that the holy Rav of Belz will also leave the country to a quieter place at the time. The close Chassid Rabbi Hersch Pinchas write to Rabbi Yosel Ashkenazi that the matter is out of the question; however, Rabbi Yosel, in this letter, writes that 'apparently the holy Rav of Belz Shalita agrees to leave the country and what you wrote me is untrue'.
Rabbi Yosel takes an interest in the situation in the Holy Land 'after the Tzaddik has left the place', referring to the holy Rav of Satmar leaving the country for a trip to the USA. At the beginning of the letter, varied charity matters.
