Handwritten signature of the Tzaddik Gaon Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Baharan on the distribution of funds by the Rav of Jerusalem the great Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Salant. Jerusalem, 1910.

Printed on the receipt: "I have received from the Rav Rabbi Shmuel Salant Shalita in Jerusalem ... the amount of 3.6 Frank which were sent by the Garon Rabbi Nosson Bamberger Av Beis Din of Wurzburg "by the Clerks and Administrators Fund of Amsterdam". Before us is testimony of the distribution of funds that were sent from the Diaspora to the members of the old Yishuv, which Rabbi Shmuel Salant was in charge of. It should be noted that the receipt was written several months after Rabbi Shmuel Salant's passing (in Av 1909) and around the word 'Shalita' Rabbi Bahran added parentheses and wrote 'זצ"ל' in addition he corrected the printed words 'I have received by' to 'was sent in the name of'.

The Tzaddik Gaon Rabbbi Shlomo Zalman Baharan Levy (1836-1910) the first and foremost for anything holy in Jerusalem and one of its activists. One of the founders of the Meah Shearim neighborhood. Was born in Poland to his father Rabbi Nachum Shodiker who was the Rav of Shodik and the head of Kollel Polin in the Holy land after his immigration. Rabbi Shlomo Zalman began his significant activity for religious life in the Holy land and against the spirit of secularization from the day he immigrated to it. Was renowned for his battle against the secular school 'Lemel'. Rabbi Shlomo Zalman was close to the Maharil Diskin and his confidante and even served as a Dayan of his beis Din. His disciples included the Geonim of Jerusalem Rabbi Gershon Lapidos and his brother Rabbi David Bahara.

The Gaon Rabbi Nosson Bamberger Av Beis Din of Wurzburg and Bavaria (1824-1919) one of the important rabbis of Ashkenaz in his generation. His entire life he raised funds for the Jews of Jerusalem.
