Helene Rocker, 4 figures holding each other, Bronze sculpture in dark patina, signed and numbered 2/10, height: 28 cm. *Helene Rocker - sculptor, painter and etcher. She began to create in the 1970s and has since become one of the most prominent artists in Haifa, with many solo and group exhibitions in Israel and around the world, many awards, and a lot of appreciation and respect in the art world. Her work glorifies private homes and buildings. Helen Rocker has become one of the most famous artists in the city, with her special frame glasses that have become her trademark. She has displayed many solo exhibitions, participated in numerous group exhibitions in Israel and around the world, and has won various awards, including the Prize of Creation in 1995, the Israel Jubilee Prize, and the 1999 Shtruck Prize. Her donated works adorn institutions such as Beit Yad Labanim, the Children's Department at Bnei Zion Hospital, the Urim School of Special Education, and more. She is a member of the Association of Painters and Sculptors and of the National Association of Miniatures. Rocker lives on Derech Hayam St., where she also built her large studio. Its three floors are full of artworks, and it also has a sculpture garden overlooking the sea. Helene (Chaya) from the Shikman family was born in Bedzin, Poland. Her parents, Fela Milstein, and her biological father, Mordechai Pardes, came from very religious homes which followed the Gur Hasidim. Helene's spent her childhood and youth in France. In her first years she lived in Lille, the daughter of a well-to-do family. Upon the Nazi invasion of France, she fled with her mother, grandmother and younger brother to Paris, where they hid on the top floor of a brothel. In 1945, Helene and her family returned to Lille, where she met her future husband, Arieh Rocker, who was a chemical engineer and had founded the Zionist youth movement in the city. They met when she joined the movement, and within 11 months they were married. "I was still a girl, my husband was very educated and intelligent, but also very modest. I learned a lot from him".
In 1950 Helene, Arieh and her two sons Moshe and Shlomo immigrated to Israel and settled in Haifa. In Israel, her daughter Tzafy was born and later Helene's grandchildren and great-grandchildren
