Antique and genuine Ersari Rug Tribal Turkoman - Afghanistan Ersari - Wool on wool with camel hair and natural organic dyes. Typical for most Turkoman carpets is their geometric design made of kufic signs and a repeating inner field with octogonal Gül. The design of Gül and borders tell which tribe of Turkoman made the rug. The golden/beige and brown colors with an appointment of red is very unusual since most Turkoman rugs are made in a bright red. Gül (‘rose’ or ‘flower’ – Turkish, from Persian 'Gol') it's the poligonal form proper to each Turkoman clan in Central Asia and is also call Pil Pai( elephant feet). First quarter of the 20th century. Condition: wear consistent with age and use.
