Yoruba ritual sculpture representing a mother with two children, a symbol of fertility, protection, and family continuity. These figures (Ibeji or Ere Iya) were part of domestic shrines dedicated to motherhood and were venerated as intermediaries between the living and the ancestors. The figure is characterized by its verticality, the symbolic power of the pose, and the idealized features typical of Yoruba art.
