Bidspirit Auktion | Large Italian chest, Veneto, 17th

Large Italian chest, Veneto, 17th century - Carved wood. Dimensions: 82 x 163 x 70 cm. Large chest with a richly carved front featuring figurative panels and grotesque ornamentation, arranged in a rhythmic composition of pilasters, moldings, and reliefs of classical inspiration. The framed figures lend nobility and a distinct architectural sensibility to the piece, while the robustness of the volume underscores its function as a storage unit. Its decorative style and the quality of the carving are reminiscent of 17th-century Venice. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist.
