Saint Michael the Archangel in polychrome wood, Mexican Colonial School, 17th-18th century - Carved and polychromed wood. Dimensions: 42 × 28 × 19 cm. Sculpture depicting the Archangel Saint Michael standing over the vanquished demon, with outstretched wings and wearing gilded and brightly colored gilded military attire. The modeling of the face, with its serene and resolute expression, reflects the Hispanic-American Baroque tradition, where color and gilding accentuate the spiritual theatricality. It retains its original polychromy with minor losses and excellent quality in the carving details.
