Colonial School of the 17th century - Pair of allegories of Asia and Astrology
Oil on copper mounted on frame. Measurements: 67 x 87 cm (each). In each one of the copper plates a different allegory is shown, on the one hand, the allegory of Asia that shows a woman on a camel, which is one of the most relevant elements of this continent, then the allegory of astrology in which the woman is portrayed seated on a planet and with a wand, these elements, together, symbolise the essence of this discipline that combines celestial observation and symbolic interpretation.
