Follower of Murillo (Seville, 1618 - 1682) - Saint Joseph with the Child, 18th century
Oil on canvas. Dimensions: 87 x 63 cm. Saint Joseph holds the Infant Jesus, both enveloped in a dark atmosphere and with a faint halo of light emanating from the figure of the Child. This follower of Murillo follows in the footsteps of the great Sevillian master, known for his tender and mystical representations of religious scenes, especially those focused on the Holy Family. The Baroque influence is evident in the play of light and shadow that gives depth and spirituality to the scene.
