Madonna and Child, Rhineland, German Baroque school, gilded wood, 17th century, 42 x 15 x 9 cm
Figure of the Virgin with Child in her arms, made of gilded and polychrome wood, from the Rhineland region. This baroque work, dating from the 17th century, shows traditional Christian iconography with special emphasis on the folds of the clothing and the gilded details that highlight the solemnity and divinity of the figure. The serene expression of both characters transmits the peace characteristic of these religious representations.
