Oil on panel, measurements (Reus, Tarragona, 1849-Barcelona, 1902). Catalan painter and illustrator who studied with Ramón Martí Alsina at the La Lonja School in Barcelona and later obtained a position as an engraving student at the Spanish Academy in Rome, where he remained for twelve years. From there he sent landscapes to the National Exhibitions of Fine Arts. Apart from the Roman views, he practiced the Neapolitan seascapes and some genre scenes inspired by Mariano Fortuny. Upon his return he continued making sea and beach scenes with anecdotes of fishermen and genre scenes set in Galicia, Asturias, Levante and Andalusia. He also collaborated as an illustrator, especially in a series titled "Picturesque Spain" for the Artistic Illustration of 1890. Provenance: important private family collection, Rambla Catalunya, Barcelona.
