Attributed to James Ward, RA, Country Landscape with Cows, 19th century English school
Oil on canvas, measurements: 46 x 35 cm, measurements with frame: 70 x 61 cm. James Ward (London, October 23, 1769-Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, England, November 17, 1859) was an English painter, particularly of animals, and an engraver of works of art. He was born in London, and was the younger brother of William Ward, the engraver. James Ward was influenced by many people, but his career is basically divided into two periods: until 1803, his greatest influence was that of his only brother-in-law, George Morland, from that time on, Peter Paul. Rubens. From 1810 or so, William began painting landscapes with horses, and a little later, he turned to large landscapes, of which Gordale Scar (now in the Tate Gallery, London), was completed in 1814 or 1815 and represents the Crevasse of Gordale Scar in (Yorkshire), which is considered his masterpiece and one of the most sublime works of art of Romanticism in all of England.
