Lady Watching Over the Deceased, Luis Bertodano, 19th century Spanish school
Signed L. Bertodano, Zaragoza. Oil on canvas, canvas measurements: 100 x 77 cm, framed measurements: 132 x 109 cm. Spanish painter Documented in Madrid between 1895 and 1908 and present in the Prado Museum. The dates of birth and death of this author are unknown, whom Bernardino de Pantorba places in Madrid, and Francisco Cuenca in Córdoba, with a theme of manners and a disciple of Casto Plasencia. He regularly attended the National Exhibitions of Fine Arts, where he won a second medal in 1895 with a canvas that is preserved in the Prado Museum. In the National of 1908 he repeated the award with Autumn Afternoon. In 1901 he obtained a second medal consideration with Patio Cordobés and in 1908 his painting Preparations for the May Cross was highly celebrated by critics.
