Luis Bonifás y Massó-Valls, 1730 - Valls, 1786 was a Catalan sculptor and one of the greatest exponents of Catalan Baroque sculpture. He studied in his grandfather's workshop and began his professional work in 1752. In 1763 he obtained the academic title of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Madrid. He has worked throughout Catalonia, as well as in Madrid and Puerto Rico. He was the author, among other works, of San Miguel in the Church of San Miguel del Puerto (1755); the Lodge of Mercy, in Reus (1756); the altarpiece of San Ignacio, in La Granadella (1762); those of Victoria (1762) and Dolores (1779) in Valls; the main altarpiece of Cubells (1764) and the choir of the Cathedral of Lérida, one of the most important works of Baroque in Catalonia, with more than a hundred images in high relief (1775-1779). All these works disappeared during the Civil War.
