He trained at the School of Fine Arts in Seville, where he stood out for his great talent for painting, although he was considered by some of his teachers to be extravagant due to his tendency to get out of conventional classical molds. . He coincided during his formative stage in Seville with the native painter from Marchena Eufemiano Sánchez, with whom he maintained a great friendship throughout his life. From 1946 he gained fame as a scandalous painter, some of his works were considered by the religious authority to be obscene and disrespectful of morals, although he always enjoyed protectors and friends in the high political and economic spheres who protected him until the end. of their life. His style can be framed within expressionism.
